Overview

Logbookly ("the app", "we", "us") is a digital flight logbook for pilots. This policy explains what data we process and why. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the app, and you can use the core logbook without creating an account.

What we collect

DataWhyWhere it lives
Account identifier — email and/or the Apple/Google sign-in identifier To authenticate you and link your flights to your account Supabase Auth
Flight records — dates, aircraft, times, landings, functions, notes, PIC names The core purpose of the app On your device, and (when signed in) synced to your account in the cloud
Logbook photos — images you capture for AI scanning To extract flight data via AI (Premium) Sent to Google (Gemini) for transient processing. Not stored by us.
Subscription status To unlock Premium features Managed by the App Store; we store only whether your subscription is active
Crash & error diagnostics To detect and fix bugs Sentry (technical logs, no logbook content)
Website analytics — anonymous usage of logbookly.app To understand site traffic Firebase Analytics (this website only, not the app)

We do not sell your data, and we do not use your flight records for advertising.

Third parties we rely on

  • Supabase — authentication, database and backend for cloud sync and backup.
  • Google (Gemini) — extracts text from your logbook photos when you use AI scanning (Premium). Images are processed transiently and not stored by us.
  • Apple App Store — processes subscription payments. We never see or store your card details.
  • Apple / Google — social sign-in, if you choose it.
  • Sentry — crash and error diagnostics.
  • Firebase (Google) — hosting and anonymous analytics for this website.

Legal basis (GDPR)

Where the EU GDPR applies, we process your data to perform our contract with you (providing the logbook and sync), on the basis of your consent (AI photo processing, which you initiate), and for our legitimate interests (security, diagnostics and preventing abuse). You may withdraw consent at any time by not using the relevant feature and by deleting your data.

Retention & deletion

Your flight data is kept for as long as your account exists. You are always in control:

  • Delete individual flights at any time.
  • Wipe all your cloud data from Settings → Account.
  • Delete your entire account, which permanently removes your user and all associated data.

Logbook photos used for AI scanning are not retained after processing.

Security

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS) and Supabase's row-level security, so each account can only access its own data. On-device data uses the platform's file protection. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Children

Logbookly is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy. We will post the current version here with its date. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
